The Inspiration

Black Girls Film Camp Banner held at East End Arts

Black Girls Film Lab is inspired by the Black Girls Film Camp, our popular summer offering for Black women and girls that has been running for over 9 years. The camp takes place over the course of a week where the participants will get to collaborate in an outdoor setting with crafts, storytelling, and icebreakers that help to develop the camp dynamic that will be the roots of their network as the next generation of filmmakers!

Throughout the week, camp leaders will facilitate a curriculum of all the essentials of filmmaking from storytelling, writing, camera basics, sound, and directing, and editing.

To end the camp, each participant walks away with experimental short films made either individually and/or in teams which they can build their portfolio on and submit to festivals! Best of all, the films will also be debuted at our Black Girls Film Camp Screening!

This year we are offering the black girls film lab, to create a short intensive & accessible experience for your black women & youth who like to dive deep into filmmaking and end their summer with a bang!
